In 1865 Lincoln was assassinated at Ford’s Theater. Although Mary Todd Lincoln lived 17 years after her husband’s death, Mary never escaped from the shadow of that event. Read the letter that Frederick Douglass wrote to Mary after her husband's death. Based on this letter describe Frederick Douglass’ reaction to Lincoln’s assassination.
